Bowie is also known for its proximity to the beautiful grassland preserves to the southeast of the city.

If you pass through Bowie, make sure to stop just south at the Caddo-LBJ National Grasslands. This national reserve is nearly 18,000 acres of Texas wild land and features some of the best birding and wildlife watching that Texas has to offer with large populations of coyotes, bobcats, foxes, waterfowl and turkey.
