Bowie is a small Central Texas town that celebrates its rodeo roots and quiet pace. For RV travelers seeking a respite from the road but who also want proximity to the natural beauty of Central Texas, Bowie is the answer. With the Caddo-LBJ National Grasslands just south of Bowie, there is plenty to do for nature lovers. Bowie sits just over one hour northwest of downtown Fort Worth along U.S. Highway 287. You can also head northwest and reach Wichita Falls along U.S. Highway 287 in less than one hour. Bowie is also known for its proximity to the beautiful grassland preserves to the southeast of the city.

If you pass through Bowie, make sure to stop just south at the Caddo-LBJ National Grasslands. This national reserve is nearly 18,000 acres of Texas wild land and features some of the best birding and wildlife watching that Texas has to offer with large populations of coyotes, bobcats, foxes, waterfowl and turkey.
